Keep the heat on (even when away), open cabinet doors under exterior-wall sinks, and let vulnerable faucets drip slightly overnight.
Don't turn the heat off entirely โ set it no lower than 55ยฐF, and consider having someone check the house periodically during extended cold snaps.
