Not every plumbing issue needs an immediate service call. A few quick checks first can save time and, occasionally, the cost of a visit.
Is the shut-off valve for that fixture fully open? Is a nearby fixture also affected (points to a bigger issue) or just the one (often more localized)?
A plunger handles many simple clogs. Avoid chemical drain cleaners if you'll need a plumber anyway — they make the job messier and sometimes more dangerous to diagnose.
The age of the fixture or unit involved, when the problem started, whether it's affecting one fixture or multiple, and photos if you can safely get them. This helps us diagnose faster and often quote more accurately over the phone.
Active flooding, any gas smell, or no water/no heat in cold weather — don't troubleshoot, call.
